indianapolis. they've had recent trouble with race relations after a controversial arrest back in may was made of a biracial teenager who suffered severe facial cuts and bruises in his arrest. one officer had been recommended for firing. protests for more firings have been held. let the court system work it out. if they're dirt bags, fire them. but one pastor in indianapolis had his own idea about how to deal with the tension. he came up with one of the worst ideas i think i've seen. that includes the segway. pastor james harrington of mount vernon missionary baptist church. he hatched a brilliant plan to put the indianapolis police department to the test. they invited a 17-year veteran of the force, sergeant matthew grimes to speak at the july 24 event hosted at the municipal gardens, a parks department facility in the city. sergeant grimes has done hundred of these sort of public appearances, community relations sergeant. that's what he does. pastor harrington and the park manager willard gutton planned have an altercation break out between two black individuals while sar scent grimes was --

under mostly cloudy skies. frontal boundary approaching buffalo, approaching indianapolis with showers and storms ahead of it. upper level winds are fairly strong on top of this. we will watch the front come through. showers and storms, here we are at 5:00 this afternoon. some strong to severe through this evening. by 9:00 down to our south now this will be pulling through the front any way, overnight. the drier air filters in for friday and with us much of the weekend as well as temperatures will drop off a bit but i want to caution you to watch out for the storms this afternoon. our seven-day forecast, 90s today. well in to the 90s. upper 90s with enough sun. storms. tomorrow, drier and 92. nice over the weekend and high heat upper to mid-90s on monday, tuesday and wednesday. >> angie goff has the latest traffic. >> a couple of problems out there. look at the big picture. overall a good amount of people are getting a head start on their commute. seeing volume early on. begin with the big problem here at good hope road. it is closed at southeast dc because of police activity.
